Carol Ride

Biographical Info 10 years ago I shifted from working as a psychologist in the field of couple therapy, to working with colleagues to develop Psychology for a Safe Climate. Our work began focusing on the psychological factors impeding engagement with climate change and also in understanding the many faces of denial. Our focus now is in offering emotional support to those engaged as activists, researchers, policy makers and scientists. We greatly appreciate their deep commitment to the work they are doing on our behalf, and offer support to help them maintain good mental health and self care practices for the continuity of their work. We know that it is healthy to have opportunities to express their feelings about their work and to connect with their colleagues as they do so, in a supportive space with professional psychological care. Indeed we know this is good for us all, as climate change has an emotional impact on us all. I enjoy talking to the public, those working in the climate field, and mental health professionals, about our work.
