About me
Clare is climate conscious psychologist who acknowledges the connection between mental health and climate change. She has a calm and friendly approach and enjoys working with clients to assist them to make room for their feelings, listen to their needs, reduce the impact of self-defeating thoughts and act in accordance with their values in order to lead a full and rich life. She has experience working with adults, adolescents, and children. Prior to retraining in psychology, she managed a range of youth Bush Adventure Therapy and Outdoor Education programs. Clare draws on a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focussed therapy, Schema therapy, narrative therapy and mindfulness-based approaches. As well as being a Climate Aware Practitioner with Psychology for a Safe Climate, Clare has completed climate conscious therapy training with Dr. Thomas Doherty and is a member of Outdoor Health Australia. She is also conducting research into the relationship between climate change and mental health through the University of Tasmania. Clare’s many hobbies include bushwalking, gardening, arts and music events, yoga and spending time with her friends, family, and dog.
